Speaker < $6K Recommendation for Job 225
Hello,
Looking for speaker recommendation for the Job 225 power amplifier. My budget is $6K. I listen to mostly Jazz and my source is CD.
Thanks

Re: Speaker < $6K Recommendation for Job 225
If you are not listening too loud, Revel Studio2 at your upper limit are great. Almost any one of the JBL monitors are superb and a lot less money. Possibly some Martens, Nola, Sonus Faber, etc. are great.
Please tell us what you are interested in speaker-wise and maybe we can narrow it down. My Job INTegrated on my Studio2 sounds awesome.
Pick nothing below 3 ohms, and 89dB or higher, preferably closer to 90+dB.Fleetwood Deville by Oswald Mills Audio, Vienna Acoustics Haydn Jubilee, Wharfedale Linton w/ stands, Klipsch RB-75, Klipsch RP-160M.

Re: Speaker < $6K Recommendation for Job 225
Revel F208, MSRP $5,000. My friend bought a pair two years ago and loves them. I helped him pick them out. We’re both avid jazz listeners but these speakers do rock and classical just as well. They perform way above their price point.
Best,

Re: Speaker < $6K Recommendation for Job 225
Thank you all for the responses thus far. My equipment is rather "mid-fi". Job Amp and Pre-amp. I have 3 CD players that I rotate and they are Creek Audio, Cambridge Audio and Marantz. Can't afford more expensive stuff with 1 kid about to start college at MIT and 3 more going to college in the next 8 years. First-world problems...I am blessed to be able to listen to good music.
Besides matching well with the Job 225 and sounding great, the other criteria may read like I am looking for a date. They have to pass the WAF criteria as they will be in an open-floor plan living room measuring 19 ft x 16 ft.
I like a floor-standers if possible. European preferably because they usually have nicer design aesthetics. But not a fan of the British monitor look, so Harbeth is out. The following brands I am considering:
Dynaudio
Penaudio
Sonus Faber
Totem (it is Canadian and some of the models do look pleasing to the eye)
Spendor
Fyne (new company, reminds me of Tannoy)
I also thought about Vandersteen Treo CT (American I know), but they are above my budget.
Thanks

Re: Speaker < $6K Recommendation for Job 225
Harbeth 30.1 or 30.2 - but I now see that is out. Another option with high WAF and small floorstanding feature is the Rosso Fiorentino Certaldo. It retails slightly above your budget at $6,500, but build quality and elegance are unparalleled at that price point.
Another option is the Usher Mini Dancer Two.
Totem is nice but my favorite in that price range is the Hawk. I don't like the Forest.

Based on my experience with the PSB Synchrony One, consider its replacement, the Imagine T3 Tower. If you do though, be careful. It is addicting, and can lead to an uncontrollable desire for more and more.

Re: Speaker < $6K Recommendation for Job 225
PSB Imagine T'3's are great but are over $7K. Might consider the T2's if your room is smaller. I loved the sound of the PSB Synchrony's. Both the Synchony and its replacement the T2 and T3 are compared to speakers in the $15K-20K range by Stereophile.
Agree with Harbeths. But consider Sonus Faber Venere S, Focal Aria 948's. Agree with the Elac Adante based on reviews, but I haven't heard them.
May want to give a listen to Magnepan 3.7i's and the Monitor Audio Gold 300.

You might want to take a look at the Salk Sound web site as Jim can build any of his models in just about any finish that meets the WAF. Multiple models and designs that fit you money criteria.

Re: Speaker < $6K Recommendation for Job 225
Hi, long time Dynaudio user, and recently got a pair of Boenicke W5, base version. Nothing compares to Boenicke, never heard so much detail delivered with a sweet rendering, all performances are like live performances, even studio ones look like you are seated right next to the singer. Please give a read to Boenicke W8 and W5. I think one review is made with your amplification . Give me 10 min I’ll look into it.

look for the W8 review as well, it will depend on your room size and taste, personally I love monitors, have a very special charm and imaging.Pathos Classic One MKIII, Boenicke W5, AURALIC Vega DAC, Synology NAS, SBT for Tidal, Rega RP6/Goldring Elite MC, Clearaudio Basic +, SPK cable Inakustik LS1108, rca, Coax, USB, QED Performance

Re: Speaker < $6K Recommendation for Job 225
Hi Nikhil, I’ve owned Special 25 and X12, but at the dealer have listen to Focus 140 and 160, Contour S1.4, and recently demo the Contour 20 and Special 40.
Please don’t get me rong, I’ve been a Dynaudio fan boy for over 20 years now, and not easy to be sweped away. That said, Boenicke got into my live like a lightning bolt, it was mind bothering how those small boxes sounded so natural, with the correctness os sounds spread all over the room... The sound stage is wide, tall and deep, with the fading act like Dynaudio, but sounding more natural.
Your ears will not lie to you, you instictly know that you are in the presence of a special pice of hi end gear, it will take just a few seconds...Pathos Classic One MKIII, Boenicke W5, AURALIC Vega DAC, Synology NAS, SBT for Tidal, Rega RP6/Goldring Elite MC, Clearaudio Basic +, SPK cable Inakustik LS1108, rca, Coax, USB, QED Performance

Re: Speaker < $6K Recommendation for Job 225
Thank you all for your input.
Just to recap, below is the list I will be doing further research:
(1) Dynaudio
(2) Penaudio
(3) Harbeth (I got so many people recommending it that I have to give it a listen)
(4) Totem
(5) Devore
(6) Spendor
(7) Rosso Fiorentino
(8) Boenicke
I grew up with Tannoy speakers at home and actually auditioned the Tannoy Revolution 8 XTF. Didn't like how it sounded and found out they were made in China and not Scotland.
Thanks

Re: Speaker < $6K Recommendation for Job 225
I have not heard of Boenicke until you mentioned it. Now I am intrigued. Definitely will pass the WAF, the small form factor will work when we downsize our house. Furthermore, looks like a match for Job (all Swiss). I am interested in the W8. Now I have to find out where can I audition a pair.

Re: Speaker < $6K Recommendation for Job 225
Hi ct221933, glad I could help, that’s why we have forums, thanks god.
I don’t know where you live, but Boenicke will not be easy to find, if you are in the US the the dealer is https://pranadistribution.com/ .
In Europe probably will be a bit easyer, but please move some hearth and heaven to demo a unit.
You can try on the forum if someone near you have a pair, and be kind enough to let listen to them.
I’m from Portugal not much I can do... But can give you glance of my W5, but please bear with my system, the Pathos have a wonderful 80wpc and can do wonders with the W5, but will benefit from more power, will have to upgrade amp in the future.
Have fun and enjoy the hunt...

Read the 6moons review of the Boenicke W8's. They need a lot of room away from the back and side walls. The review had them pulled out to the middle of his room.

Re: Speaker < $6K Recommendation for Job 225
Hi Mechnutt, that’s absolutely true, but side walls are not the biggest problem, because you have a side bass woofer that you can face them inward or outward, but from rear walls you’ll need to pull them a bit forward, it’s all due to the rear Twitter, gives you deeps and ambient to the sound stage.

I love my Pure Audio Project. Open baffle provides a very nice bass response for Jazz. I had Sonus Faber Luito floor standers. Not a jazz speaker. More rich, fat and ported box whoomp. Better for rock. More drive. In jazz I'm looking more for air, natural wood sounds, accurate.

I'll register another vote for Revel...F208 is a sure thing and well under your budget. Wouldn't be shocked if you could get the new F228 BE at your budget or a little over.
Someone also mentioned Joseph Audio....You might check out the Joseph Audio Profile.....a slim floorstander which is excellent sounding and easy to drive.
