Who's using what? Tidal-Qobuz-Spotify thru? Roon-Audirvana-Jriver
With several choices available in both streaming services and cataloging interfaces, just wondering what combination you have found to work best. (feel free to include any and all other resources than those listed)
I recently changed from a Mac mini running Tidal/Jriver to Tidal direct to MicroRendu / Lynn Kazoo for a very nice increase in sound quality.

Roon definitely seems to be gaining momentum. I get asked about it all the time.
Since I’m a big MQA fan, the Aurender is the ONLY app that lets your search only MQA albums. Hats off to those guys.My Systems: http://www.audioshark.org/showthread...481#post158481

I stream Tidal through my Aurender N10 and N100H music servers. Both have the MQA license applied so I am also able to enjoy MQA at 24/96 when something of interest catches my ear.

Re: Who's using what? Tidal-Qobuz-Spotify thru? Roon-Audirvana-Jriver
I changed a few month ago Spotify for Tidal especially because of MQA unfold by the last Aurender update.
I could use also hirez Qobuz streaming ( there are still region restrictions with Qobuz) but I prefer to buy hirez files instead of stream them.
So I continue to buy hirez mainly from Qobuz and native dsd files from nativedsd.com ( try Fone!), listen also quite often to Tidal MQA.
I use Tidal as well in our summer house where I have Aries mini with Fram Maxi active loudspeakers.

About 20 days ago, I changed Tidal for Qobuz Supreme +, executing it directly on my Lumin.
Since the reproduction of MQA in Lumin is not to my liking (I would like to hear MQA on another device) I have moved to Qobuz High Res and I am very happy with the quality of sound. However, sometimes problems of cutting reproduction that I almost never had with TidalFrancisco

Re: Who's using what? Tidal-Qobuz-Spotify thru? Roon-Audirvana-Jriver
I now use Qobuz almost exclusively though so far have kept the Tidal subscription for the occasion when a title is not available on Qobuz. Even on just the standard FLAC titles I find the sound quality of Qobuz to be superior. Am not a big fan or user of MQA and have tried it on three different streamers from three different companies. Using Spotify's "artist radio stations" is a great way to pick a basic genre to just let music play for hours when doing other things. Also the FLAC version of Radio Paradise is another alternative and free. Unlike nonesup I have never had a cutout or interruption with Qobuz unlike with Tidal though changing my DNS setting to Cloudfare has eliminated most of the cutout and stuttering problem with Tidal at least for now. With all I use the streamers Native app.

I do not use a streaming service... I play all my music from my music server... hi-rez downloads (best I can find of the particular album that I can find, but DSD up to 256 whenever I can find it); CD or SACD rips... I use Roon to HQPlayer (over sampling to DSD512 with 48 base clock... 24.6 MHz)... can not beat the combination for the finest digital playback software, in my view.

Tidal Hi-Res subscription, family pass. I do like the option of MQA.
I am looking forward to other Hi-Res services as Tidal seems more orientated towards a specific genre I don’t listening to.

I have a family acct for Spotify and I use it mainly for discovery and on my daily commute.
I don’t stream on main rig and have absolutely no desire for mqa and the farse that it is. I use Bandcamp a lot as a source to purchase or else its amazon, burningshed, kascope, hdtracks etc.. and all is stored on NAS. I then use ROON (lifetime) on a dedicated high end server with HQP.

Tidal Hifi including MQA from a netbook via USB to a Mytek Brooklyn DAC (the full decoding is done by the DAC).
For ease of use and just to get to know new music I use a Chromecast Audio + iFi SPDIF purifier feeding the Brooklyn but the sound quality is not as good and, alas, no MQA.

Re: Who's using what? Tidal-Qobuz-Spotify thru? Roon-Audirvana-Jriver
You have to use the search feature on Tidal. I've been able to find a pretty good variety of Rock, Jazz has a decent selection. Seems all music is not digitally licensed. For example, I was shocked not a single album by Tool. Those guys are sort of jerks though. I think the entire Kansas library is on there. Then there's artists like Patricia Barber who have some albums but missing a couple big ones.
When you find an artist Tidal is pretty accurate when clicking the "similar" button to bring up bands like the one you are listening to.

I find a lot of what I like on all the services AO I gonfor sound quality. I have a computer based server so AO, HQ through Roon provides the best sound. I therefore use Roon to access my music. Qobuz has me interested so I news to figure out how to use HQ player with their library if possible. Would be great if they integrated with Roon. Would make it easier.

Re: Who's using what? Tidal-Qobuz-Spotify thru? Roon-Audirvana-Jriver
Sorry for reviving an old threat but I figure with the advent of Qobuz in the US, might be worth a revisit. I found this googling on the topic.
We just recently upgraded our home theater speaker such that now we once again sitting at home and enjoy listening to music. Normally I listen to music in my high end car stereo system while driving. I was a longtime Spotify premium member but first found Tidal and even without hardware to decode MQA found it to produce a much better sound. Then I found Qobuz and I'm able to stream that directly to my Onkyo receiver via dlna and it works great, sounds markedly better than Tidal. And, the more I read about MQA the less I'm a fan of that approach.
So, I'd decided to go with Qobuz, connecting it to my receiver via dlna using the mconnect app. $6. Then I kept hearing about Audirvana so installed a free trial of that and first tried it directly from my laptop over my computer bookshelf speakers. Definitely a positive difference vs playing through the native Qobuz app. Then I tested the same songs to my home theater system using mconnect and then the Audirvana remote app. No question Audirvana sounds better, warmer and richer, the mids and highs not as shrill. So at the end of my trial I'll definitely buy the app, which is a LOT cheaper than Roon. And Roon has no dlna support and I'm not interested in buying something like a Blusound 2i.
So, in the car, just streaming directly from Qobuz on my iphone to my Pioneer head unit. And it sounds amazing. At home, Qobuz integration in Audirvana streamed with the Audirvana remote app (which I wish had a better layout) to my Onkyo TX-NR737 receiver. And it sounds fabulous.
I really like what Qobuz is doing, I like that it's not using MQA, and I like that their recommendations aren't trying to shove hip hop and rap down my throat like Tidal does. I'm more a combo of classic rock, classic jazz and classical. A given listening session might have Springsteen, Supertramp, Coltrane and Bach, lol.
I'd love to hear what other Qobuz subscribers are doing and how they utilize the service. I think Qobuz is going to take a lot of business from Tidal.
