Re: Zen Sati, Wire World, Shunyata!!!
André - - - Keep it simple system
Amp = Chord CPM-2600
Source = Chord One
Speakers = Acoustat 1+1s highly modified
Life without Acoustat is possible BUT senseless.

Nice shootout! Hope Shunyata wins but think the Zen Sati may beat it out.
Look forward to the results, Kev!

Re: Zen Sati, Wire World, Shunyata!!!
BUGGER!!! The bloke with the Zen Sati's forget them but he did bring a CH Precision dac, it's good, real good!!! We ran it through the Soulution 520 as well as straight into a Sanders Magtech amp, class AB 500w 8 ohm, never ceases to amaze me this amp, I did own one back a ways. From the Magtech we went to Magnepan 20.7's Drive was a macbook air SSD fully quantum chipped with Wire World Platinum usb & balanced xlr were WW Plats. All power supply was Shunyata Anaconda this & that as well as speaker cables. We ran out of time so we didn't do any cable comparison but all agreed on one thing, the sound was just, "right"!!!!! It had everything in spades & even running the dac direct, as it has a very good pre in it, the more resolving detailed etc etc , it wasn't fatiguing at all. Some classical, big band, country, blues, the whole damn shooting match was just as good as the rest, reproduced superbly.

Re: Zen Sati, Wire World, Shunyata!!!
Holy cow! Those speakers seem way too close together or way too big for that room. How big was the room?
Glad you liked the DAC and gear. You're definitely a nice benchmark by which to gauge future gear. Glad it was a fun day.My Systems: http://www.audioshark.org/showthread...481#post158481

Re: Zen Sati, Wire World, Shunyata!!!
Mike the rooms only about 3m x 7m, the speakers are about 3m from the front wall, the walls are steel timber & glass, & everyone walks up there & thinks oh shit, this isn't going to work & it does, sublimely!!
Dewey, was great fun.

Re: Zen Sati, Wire World, Shunyata!!!
That's impressive. I wonder how they would sound in a bigger room? I've owned Magnepan MMG's, 1.6, 1.7, 3.6, 3.7. Never the 20's. I can honestly say that the 1.6's with the Sunfire subs was one of the best systems I've ever had (and heard) for the money.
I remember thinking how ridiculously expensive the 20's were. My perspective has changed!My Systems: http://www.audioshark.org/showthread...481#post158481

Re: Zen Sati, Wire World, Shunyata!!!
So what was being tested? Inter-connects (digital, analog), speaker, power cables, or all three?

Bud, you must have missed the memo, the bloke with the Zen Sati forgot to bring them & after playing with the goodies he brought with him we ran out of time to do much more than listen to the music.

Re: Zen Sati, Wire World, Shunyata!!!
Again, my apologies. While I saw that post, unless I misread it, it didn't answer my question.
Of course, if there are no cables to test then it can't be done, but I assume the original goal was to compare cables, and I am curious as to which cables.Bud

Because of a different radiation pattern, Magnepans can be placed closer to the side walls compared to conventional speakers.

Re: Zen Sati, Wire World, Shunyata!!!
Bud, it was to be their best, as in the top of their price list, not mine, not yours, but what they the manufacturers of each company consider to be their best. Unfortunately it didn't happen so it has become a moot point.

Re: Zen Sati, Wire World, Shunyata!!!
Okay. Just as a suggestion, if you get a chance to do it again maybe you can specify a type of cable. Otherwise one vendor could show up with a power cord, another with a speaker cable, and another with a digital IC. While interesting, you wouldn't really gain any insight into sonic differences between their technologies.

I upgraded the power supply on my Gigafoil v4 to a Weiss PSU 102. It’s very nice step up. But with the new model, you’re looking at $2000 before even investing in a SOTA linear power supply.
