Thanks Joe. Been thinking about trying KT150s in my VAC 200iQs. Kevin Hayes said the amps would work fine with KT150s, but I wouldn’t get any more power than with KT88s. Just a matter of which sound I preferred.

Digital source: Totaldac d1-twelve Mk2 DAC, Totaldac d1-player, Totaldac d1-streamer, Totaldac Live Power supply
Pre amp: VAC Master with phono
    Phonostage: Constellation Andromeda
    Amps: VAC 200iQ monoblocks
    Speakers: Magico M3 with MPods
Cables: Synergistic Research Galileo SX speaker, phono, analog and digital interconnects
Power products: Synergistic Research Galileo PowerCell SX and Transporter Ultra. Galileo SX and SRX power cords. Keces P3 LPS for cable modem and router.

Do it! Much better than the Russian GL KT88’s IMO.

That being said, try to find a quad of proper original red label GoldLion KT88’s (UK). Mind blowing!

My 300b SET amps have met their match. VAC Sig 200iQ with NOS GL KT88’s and Stock Tung-Sol 6SN7 are the new champ for the AG’s.

I rolled the 6SN7’s and so far prefer the Stock new issue Tung-Sol 6SN7’s. Go figure. But I have more to try. So far, I’ve tried: RCA, Sylvania and Raytheon.

Add in the Special Edition Ren 5 preamp and Special Edition Ren Phono and wow!

Yes, I would love to try the NOS GL KT88s! But these tube rolling experiments get expensive quick since I use the 200iQs as monoblocks.

Use just one 200iQ in stereo mode to “test” until you find what you like.

My usual tube source sells a NOS pair of GL KT88s for ~$700/pair. Ouch!

If you are tube rolling 6SN7's, the real winner is to use a 6F8G (VT-99) with an adapter.
Takes EVERYTHING to a whole new level.
They have been produced by all of the original vintage Mfg's I.E. Tung-Sol, RCA, Sylvania, Raytheon ETC.
    Fully compatable in all designs.

what EL34s were used here? Big difference of course. KT150s are great, but you need to compare with NOS Siemens or something.

and I have the Ref 75SE, so being fair here.

Very helpful review. I was wondering what tubes I should try next with the Dialogue HP. Although to be honest the stock EL34 and Harbeth 30.2 sounds like a great, well balanced pairing to my ears so I’m not in a hurry to swap them out. The midrange is fantastic as is the surprising “analog quality” (not dry) and rather “robust” bass for a tube amp.

I want to hear the new EVO series.

    I’m also a big EL34 fan.

I have no idea what exactly was changed from the Dialogue HP to the new EVO but I am extremely pleased with the Dialogue HP and its headphone amp since I do love to listen to headphones late at night
