Curious, 150 watts per channel with 4 KT 150, when CJ in the new ART 150 only uses 2.
I thought that AR when designing an amplifier from the beginning based on KT 150, would "tighten" them more than in REF 150SE.

Are you sure? I think the ART 150 uses 4. You can’t really tighten anything since each KT150 tube is rated at a maximum output of 70 watts, which if run that hard, would dramatically decrease life span and cause other problems (noise, etc).

Looks good. Carries forward a bit of the GS design. I’m sure it will sound amazing - in the tradition of ARC amps.

Gotcha. But it still seems they are continuing with the same design of the GS, REF 6, etc. which I think is a really cool modern look.

Agreed. The REF3 Phono in the store is just gorgeous and a SHOCKER in sound. What an amazing Phonostage. Richard Mak was spot on with his review.

The CJ ART 150 is a stereo model. It has 4 tubes (2 per channel) and gives 150 watts.
The ART 300 is a mono model and with 4 tubes per monoblock (like the AR 160) it delivers 300 watts.

Exactly. Two per channel, 4 in total. They are pushing the tubes a little harder than ARC for example. 150 to 300 is only 3db difference.

The VAC Signature 200iQ amps are rated at 100 watts per channel (stereo) and 200 for monos.

I do not like the massive gaping hole in the fascia....I can only hope ARC will create the option to buy the amp with a stock standard fascia.

A case of swings and roundabouts, the valve and bias circuit tolerances are more important to match as close as possible with the ARC design, however the CJ is running the KT's a fair bit harder than the former, which design topology produces the least measurable distortion ?

It’s nice that ARC is going to have a lower power and less heat monoblock alternative to the Reference 250SE. It is attractive looking and should be very popular.

It’s not a hole. It’s glass with a meter (digital?). I love it. You get to see the tubes glowing and a meter! Best of both worlds.

I still do not like the look...give me the more easily recognizable distinctive ARC look...

I suspect the new look also draws a definitive line between the old and new designers at ARC.

    Re: Audio Research REF 160M

Hmmmmm, For my part I tend to agree with Jozua on this one.Whilst I love the styling of the GS150 with its large opaque meter panel I find this design to be style too far over function, having said that I haven't seen an image ofthe amp powered up, however I cannot see that swaying me on this one.
