I really enjoy DSD, including SACD. To me it is the best sounding digital format available. So to get it started figured I would mention two of the best recordings I have heard!

Lyn Stanley two new albums were just released in DSD256!

Not great finds by any means but the Analog Productions DSD versions of SRV's albums are the best sounding I've heard to date.

A real turd of a recording that's sounds the best it can on Analog Spark's SACD version of Bat Out of Hell.

Hey Norman, Yea, I have grabbed a few of those.... Steely Dan x3, Queen x2, John Lennon x2, Gentle Giant, Supertramp, Dire Straits x3, Donald Fagan and Fleetwood Mac Japanese imports... probably a few others that escape me.... And yes, they all seems to be very good!

Another very good DSD is Robert Len, Hope... Also DSD256...

These two recordings are amazing. I do agree DSD "can" sound great, especially when mastered as they did with Ms. Stanley. My biggest problem with any digital recording is how well they master and these two you list are as good as they come.

Too many recordings these days are just "remasters" of prior crappy recordings and whether it is hires or DSD remasters it still sucks.

I jumped all over these two recordings when released on NativeDSD and am glad I did.

I was talking to a buddy of mine last night. He is a huge vinyl guy. Convinced him to try some high level DSDs. He was telling me how incredible they are.

Here is one of the Jazz albums he was going crazy over.... again, another DSD256.

Johnny Hodges - Blues A Plenty

Mastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound from the original master tapes to vinyl and PCM. The DSD was sourced from the PCM. George listened to all of the different A/D converters he had before he chose which to use, and he felt the George Massenburg GML 20 bit A/D produced the best and most synergistic sound for the project.

Here are two I stumbled upon... just thought they could be interesting... and both turned out being amazing....

A Rock album (probably never heard of them, don't think they have released in US)... but a rock album RECORDED in DSD256. Maybe best sound quality rock album I have ever heard...

The second is Harry Chapin's daughter, Jen Chapin... simply stunning.

Forgive my ignorance but isn't this supposed to sound better in PCM if its converted from the original master tapes to PCM directly? Nothing good happens by upconverting PCM to DSD... I'd stick to the master file (digital - PCM)!

Depends on how it is converted and by who. I own a few examples of ones done right.... Roger Waters was actually recorded in PCM, but the DSD download sounds quite a bit better in my view (I own both).
