I've listened to both and the M6 is more there, more present, more luscious.. It does not mean that the M3 isn't.... just a little less

There's this place called Suncoast Audio in Saratosa, FL where you can listen to M3. You should visit esp. if you want to experience what heaven on earth is.

Can you confirm these impressions? Also, I notice the MIT speaker cables. We are having some discussion here in Boston about the settings on those network boxes. What settings do you prefer with the M3 speaker?

The front Baffle is curved. With the MIT, I preferred all the knobs in the on position. To me, the MIT 2C3D is the sweet spot.

Based on the attached drawing from the Magico website, it appears the front baffle of the M6 is sloped back at least for the large drivers and appears more vertical near the smaller 6” driver and tweeter.

It is at Presence Audio Conseil in Paris. The first european presentation of the M6 took place there on November 18 with Alon Wolf. Both models are in permanent display, as per the S series. You are welcome!

As good as the M6 is reported to be and its size, is there really room for the product Q7 other than to satisfy rich Asian buyers (read that most of the buyers for the Q7 are from that area of the globe)?.............Never mind, just answered my own question.

One can see the Carbon Fibrer material in the pics. Boeing uses CF on the 787 for its strength and less weight. The same why BMW uses it on roofs lower CG of its cars. Why does the M6 weigh so much?

The M6 appears to be in a Q style cabinet versus the curved carbon fiber type. I wonder if the carbon doesn’t scale well.

im on the fence to get one but the price differences are so high! I’m afraid i will not get that level of preformance vs the S3mk2.

If one buys a product presumably it is considered better by that person than the competition at that price point. If an upgraded model (am not talking M3 v s3 mk2 here as that is a different product line) is rolled out quickly after, the reference point should still be the competition and not the previous model.

My understanding is that Magico will only have the new A3 at Axpona. However, the Chicago area dealer in Palatine, F1 Audio will have the M3s in their showroom from about February 7 through March 1. Peter M. from Magico will (tentatively) give a presentation about the speakers on the evening of March 1.

As one of the biggest high end speaker companies and having visited the factory and seen the sizable team of engineers myself, Magico is not content to rest on their laurels. The M3 for example, is so much more advanced than the Q3, most people swear they aren’t from the same company.

So, it may seem like their product life cycle is much shorter than it really is, because they are constantly driving forward and now have a speaker line up feathering no less than 10 models, across three lines (four if you include the Ultimate).

With the A series now launching, Magico is diving into another market, a much bigger market and this will be exciting to see it develop.

Mike is right. Generally a five-year product cycle. That is an acceptable period of time, especially for a company on the cutting edge of research and development.

Why do you need the M3 now? U can wait and in a few years they will be phased out for half off bc a new model comes out. Bingo. The S3 mk1 is a PERFECT example of a great sounding speaker that is still great.

Yes, you are right. The life cycle of the S3 was a little shorter. The S3 Mk2 intro may have been accelerated by all the new trickle down technology from the M-Pro and M3.

Mike, I was referring to all models across the brand with the trickle down technology from one model to another. A model is brought out, say, in the M range, then an S range mkII is bought out with updated drivers from the M technology etc. Nothing wrong with this at all but a five yearly time frame, it is not. Good marketing though.

He said the improvement he got was 'across the board'. They sound fuller and more natural, with great resolution AND extremely smooth top end. He was affraid that the bass may be lacking in weight & slam (afterall, the M3 has three 7" woofers compraed compared to two 10" woofers in the 800D3), but it turned out not to be the case.

I think Adam is referring to me. As it turns out, the bass was a little shy in the 30-50MHz range. This turned out to be an inescapable glitch caused by the geometry of my room. I added a pair of subwoofers and tweaked them to just fill that suck out. The room response is now very flat and I'm thrilled beyond words with the sound of my system.
