    D1 direct to power amp

I'm wondering about bypassing my tube preamp in order to break a new solid state power amplifier -- and not use up tubes. Can this be done? Does the D1 have enough output voltage to drive a power amp? Are there any risks? What specs do I need to know for the D1 and amp to determine whether this will work?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Although not recommended for normal listening, this setup should work. D1 outputs 2V rms for RCA and 4V rms for XLR.

    You should:
    - Use XLR if your poweramp supports it
    - In Lumin app, set digital audio output to OFF
    - Enable Volume Control
    - Use a really low volume before starting playback
    - Listen for any abnormal things such as hum (due to ground loop or other connection issue)
    - Be prepared to stop immediately if anything abnormal occurs
    - Raise the volume slowly only after you think the setup is working normally
    - Turn on repeat for burn-in

Hi Peter, Any preference for "analogue output level" normal or low, when using digital volume control?

Analog Output Level is recommended to be Normal. Only in a system that its gain is considered to be too high should a Low setting be tried, although in such cases other alternatives can be considered, such as attenuators.

When using Lumin volume control, it is best to turn off digital audio output.
