What color is it? Can't tell from the pics. I really enjoyed the demo I had a few weeks back but still unsure if it really bested my VAC-Counterpoint combo.

    Beautiful!

How does it compare to your 300bs ? Did you use it as an Integrated or amp?

It's a little early to comment, but first impressions are good. I'm using it as an integrated.

Great looking gear, Mike. Thanks for sharing. I'd buy a Solista on looks alone if I had AGs

Interesting enough, Dev from the old WBF days runs a Ref6/75SE on his AGs these days. That seems like an unlikely combo.

I love ARC and would love to hear that combo one day on the AG's.

I miss my REF10, best preamp I ever owned. Damn it!! Should never sold it.

They run pretty warm. Is it hotter than other similar amps? I could have baked bread on the one I demo'd.

All 845/211 based amps run hot. Since there is only 2, 845's, they aren't bad at all. Now, my clients Viva Aurora Monos have 6, 845's + 2, 211's. That's some serious heat!

    Re: Viva Solistino

    Hi Mike,

I recently purchased a Solistino for use in a second system with DeVore Orangutan 0/96s.............so far a terrific match. Just under 100 hours on the amp. Had not come across the (stock) TAD 845s before but they are doing a great job at the moment. Are those Psvane WE 845 Replicas you have installed in the Solistino in the photos (notwithstanding you mention Sinos) and if so would you mind telling me how they compared to the TADs. I have a pair of the Psvanes in another amp and before I install them in the Solistino I would appreciate your opinion. Many thanks.

Have to say that I have never heard a more musically involving line of electronics than Viva.

    The caveat?

My experience has always been limited to higher efficiency speakers whenever I used or owned various Viva products.

    From the distributor:

"While they call this a "std. Sino 845" Amedeo and I figured out that the closest thing we could find was that these are the "Psvane Bulk 845"

Yes, they seem to be instantly special."

I totally agree with him. BIG step up.

    Re: Viva Solistino

Thanks for the info.Mike - I think I will get a pair from Tube Depot then.............their pricing seems quite modest compared to most 845s generally available. I like the stock 845s which have "TAD" printed on them - as I mentioned earlier I have never heard of them but have tracked them down to Germany - I think they are almost certainly of Chinese origin - but are re-branded "TAD" by the company.........The Amp Doctor. The logo appears identical.

    Thanks for your help.

Mike, for your interest a matched pair of the Sino 845s arrived from Tube Depot today and they are (pleasingly) a match for those pictured in your post #26 above. Interestingly, other than the finish on the base they appear identical to the stock TAD 845 supplied in the Solistino.............looking forward to listening to them - hoping for good things...............

They are much better than the stock 845's IMO.

After only three hours with the Sinos in the Viva this evening - there is no doubt you are correct, they are significantly better than the Solistino's stock tubes. I began listening after about half an hour's warm up and their superiority was immediately apparent. Many thanks for alerting us to these valves - very reasonably priced as well.

You're very welcome. Aside from their great sonics, is the price! 845 tubes were getting STUPID expensive ($1000 each for new production, not even NOS). At $99 each for these, sign me up! They sound great, look great and won't break the bank.
