    Pass labs xp-20 preamp

A friend has a Pass XP-20 preamplifier with the separate power supply. He wants to part with it at a very fair price. I would love to hear your opinions about this preamp. I am currently using a Conrad Johnson ET3SE. Thanks.

I really like this preamp. Pass is coming out with new preamps FWIW.

I would incorporate this preamp into my Linkwitz Orion system driven by Pass power amps including a First Watt J2 to drive the tweeters and Aleph 0 monoblocks (75 wpc Class A) to drive the midranges. I have old NAD power blocks driving the woofers. Other speakers I may throw into the system now and then include Focal 1008's, Trenner & Friedl Art's, restored Quad ESL 57's, Evolution Acoustics Mmicro One's, Diapason Adamantes and various others.

Wow! That's right, could be a wonderful addition. Definitely a nice variety. My only concern is the warmth/sweetness of the CJ will be replace with the neutrality (in a good way) of the XP-20. You might want to make it up somewhere else, unless you are looking for a change.

That would be my concern too. I did own one, so not speculation.
