    New CMS Maxxum rack

Got this new CMS Maxxum rack the other day ....... just wow

what an improvement to the sound - i thought it was a nonsensical about of money to spend on some shelves but the improvement really is worthy of a component upgrade.

BTW i was moving from a Finite Element Pagode rack - which was no slouch itself

    here is a pic .....

Congratulations Paul...your new rack looks fabulous! . You have the best high end audio rack in the world imho. Jaw droppingly good. My only suggestion would be to consider moving your mono's to the bottom shelf & transport and dac to the top shelf, with the pre on the middle shelf. I think that would look better & be more user-friendly.

I'm looking forward to upgrading to CMS QXK racks, though that will probably have to wait 'til next year at this stage.

It looks to me like the upper shelves are larger than lower shelves, and the amps may not fit below?

You could be right. I'd like to hear Paul's thoughts on that if he drops back into the thread .

    Re: New CMS Maxxum rack

    David, Bob is correct.

All the shelves are standard width except for the top which are much wider to accommodate the 58cm width of the Triode amps. Also, the fact that they weight 58kgs each meant i didn't want to have to slide them between the uprights of the rack and risk bumping them or the rack. Hence they are on the top shelf - its just easier to get them up there.
