What's your favorite small or bookshelf speaker?
So far my Klipsch P-17b's have captured my attention but I do admit that the sound stage is a little bit flat. They don't seem to have quite as much depth as some of my other speakers.
Is there an ultimate small speaker? As long as treble and mid range are great, I'm happy.
Thoughts and recommendations? I'm considering adding one more to the stable.Fleetwood Deville by Oswald Mills Audio, Vienna Acoustics Haydn Jubilee, Wharfedale Linton w/ stands, Klipsch RB-75, Klipsch RP-160M.

Re: What's your favorite small speaker?
Joe,
On the truly "small" side of the loudspeaker spectrum, I'd say the Harbeth P3ESR's are a safe bet. Exceptional midrange, good highs, great build-quality, and pretty good imaging to boot! The upcoming Totem Acoustic 'SKY' looks extremely promising for the money. On the more affordable side of the spectrum, the new Dynaudio Emit's are receiving raves reviews. On the more fringe side of things, the Fritz Morel 6's pack good all-around performance that's difficult not to enjoy.
The list can go on and on. It can also get rather pricey. Just depends on how far down the rabbit hole you wanna go.
On the topic of Klipsch: I certainly wouldn't mind revisiting the Heresy III's again. Talk about a wickedly fun speaker!

I never understand why Focal has a bad rep as being on the bright side. You give them good amplification and cabling, I always feel Focal knows something about the treble performance that its competitors don't.

Penaudio Cenya Signatures on matching Coldray stands. The Cenya Signatures are internally wired with Jorma cables & look stunning in natural Karelian birch. In fact i'd love to one day own a pair in a 2nd system with matching Charm active subs driven by Accuphase gear.

Re: What's your favorite small or bookshelf speaker?
Also my favorite all-time small monitors (and I've had many) are the Trenner & Friedl Art's. They are made in Austria, are stunningly beautiful (mine are zebra wood with white Corian baffles) and would sound sublime with your Triode's. Here is a link to a recent review:

I also have the Lawrence Audio Violin's which sound good and look amazing.

Re: What's your favorite small or bookshelf speaker?
[QUOTE=Kuoppis;185332]What's their frequency range? I could not find a clear statement anywhere...
From a dealer'/ site. Mine are the + version:
The Audience proprietary A3-S driver, although just 3 inches in diameter, delivers extremely flat frequency response from 50Hz to 22kHz (depending on room placement), eliminating the need for a separate woofer, midrange driver, tweeter, and crossover network. As a result the inherent problems of integrating multiple sonically dissimilar drivers and the accompanying phase distortions, loss of resolution and transient response degradation of a crossover network are completely avoided. The dual side-mounted passive radiators augment the output of the A-3S2-16 drivers and enable the 1+1 V2 to deliver outstanding presence and dynamic contrast.
The A3S2-16 driver incorporates numerous engineering refinements such as a large patented neodymium-magnet motor structure and voice coil that moves with a highly linear excursion of 12mm; an exclusive titanium alloy cone material with a curvilinear shape; a concave dust cap specially designed to control high-frequency cone breakup and provide optimum dispersion; a unique "S"-shaped surround that allows the driver to behave more like an ideal pistonic radiator, and many additional enhancements.
The 1+1 V2 also utilizes Audience's unique SSIT SweetSpace TM Imaging Technology that provides an expanded listening area rather than the usual single listener sweet spot.
The + Version
The 1+1-V2+'s available + upgrade provides yet another degree of sonic refinement. The 1+1-V2+ adds beautiful solder-less Tellurium binding posts and Audience premium Au24 internal wiring. The + kit option adds yet another layer of refinement, particularly evident by the smoothness, improved timbre and tonal richness.

Re: What's your favorite small or bookshelf speaker?
Yes, thank you - I saw that too. That is however referring just to the A3-S driver, and with restrictions.
I was looking for the verified freq. range for the V2+'s - both drivers, built into the loudspeaker and either as a statement from the manufacturer or measured by a credible and independent source.

Re: What's your favorite small or bookshelf speaker?
Trenner & Friedl monitor - tiny, but sounded great on Viva electronics last Newport show
Reference 3a De Capos
Vapor Cirrus - want to hear them and they are pretty efficient
I like Dyns, but wouldn't think them to be a good match with your Tri amps.Brinkmann Bardo w/ EMT HSD-006 cart, MSB Reference DAC --> Linear Tube Audio MicroZOTL --> Ampzilla 2000, 2nd Edition --> Fyne Audio F1-12
