    Lars Venning Visit

Received a call from local Raidho dealer boss - Desmond, asking if its ok for Dantax Radio AS Managing Director, Mr. Lars Venning to come over to my place. Asked why as I had not bought anything named Dantax. Well, Dantax is the company that manages the brands Scansonic, Raidho, Harmony and bingo, it now ring a bell.

So, after we met, had a short dinner together, local food fare (like Satay, Fried Rice, Noodles, etc, ... and beer of course), proceed to my place. We went thru one CD (Chinese Piano) but what impressed him, about his speaker, was when I played the mono version of Julie London's Julie Is Her Name, 45 rpm. Seriously, its what I called plain nice music at its best. QUIET, so quiet the recording but once Julie's vocal came in, we know why, the recording is so good, while the D-3.1 shine thru.

We had a small discussion about the previous model D3 having the "pops" and he admitted it did, but now fixed in this .1 version. We had some pictures taken and here's one for the memory.

    Cheers!

    Re: Lars Venning Visit

Thanks "audio.bill" for the nice comment.

Well Dan, after the session, he commented, these are very good speakers and fit/match your room very well. Also, he liked the combination of colour and gears assembled and that he was also surprised that the Devialet OdA gave top notch performance. The difference is that while -25db reading on the Devialet OdA app plays loud for the B&W 802D2, to have similar output, the reading is now raised to -15db or less. This difference was noted by Desmond but he was also surprised the "silence" of the amp when player analog.

I think Lars is being courteous and polite when he made the comment and also to probably please the customer me. One advise he gave was that I should give the speakers a couple of hundred hours to run-in and it should sound much better than today. The other thing he commented was he saw the build of this pair as he knows this is a special delivery for me - on the actual birthday 5th October (as a present I gave to myself) as well as its of the burl walnut where not much were build before due to the added costs. However, he did say, now more and more of this finish is being asked. And that one reason was the former chairperson, who owned a Bentley, liked the burl on the car enough to want this same wood type replicated into the speakers.

I do know for sure what Desmond (local dealer's) comment about the volume setting IS real as I did see and hear for myself. He also commented that the Mono recording sounded so nice, something he did not even hear at his premises. Like I mentioned before, if I am happy with this setup, I know its going to stay (better be) for a long long time.

By the way, retirement system here meant I am now retired from chasing gears and changing systems. Retirement from work would most be 3 years starting now, in 2019 end. I am sorry and apologise if I gave the wrong impression.

    Cheers
