I just don't know it is (yet), what exactly is doing what and why and quite frankly, I don't care. They just sound so good. The MPOD's I'm sure are doing their part, but this is a speaker that is so engaging, I have to pull myself away. I know it's only been two days, but you get "lost" in the music. I'm not getting any real work done today!

I will probably hook up a TT later on as I for one believe playing vinyl helps with the break in process (the rapid movement of the drivers when the album is playing). I have owned more than 30 pairs of speakers and I will say these are the best sounding right out of the box I've ever owned. Period.

I will say this: the M3 will bring traditional non-Magico buyers into the fold. People who had previously dismissed Magico based on listening to Q3's or Q5's, will want to definitely give the M3's a good formal listen. They produce music so organically that I can't imagine they won't appeal to more people - left brainers and right brainers alike.
Maybe they should be called Sonus Magico instead of just Magico?

    I have yet to try:

    VAC Signature 200iQ monos
    VAC Renaissance 5 Preamp
When will we see Siltech Double/Triple Crown in there? There's nothing else could go higher.

So I had my 500 IC from pre to amp and Royal Signature from dac to pre (not sure why I did that). A couple of months ago I swapped them and wow. Didn't realize how much I was missing.

I freaking love these speakers. Listening all day - again. They have such an ease to them. The DK, Live in Paris is so real sounding. Heck, even the clapping sounds more authentic than any other speaker I've owned. Cymbals, horns, vocals, stand up bass. It's all so authentic sounding.

    Re: Magico M3's Have Arrived!

A lot of speakers need some volume to sound good and open up. The M3's at very low SPL's, retain all of the musicality and toe tapping goodness. Right now I'm listening at 64db measured at 1 meter and the musical coherence is all there: bass, mid, treble as one image.

In my case, they cause insomnia. Magico M3's Have Arrived!

For any room under 25' x 35', not that I'm hearing. That new midrange and tweeter = perfection! Bass is tight, defined, natural sounding and goes low. If they can do what they did in Magico's big 24 x 35 room, then no weaknesses that I'm hearing. I absolutely love them. Best cone & dome speaker I've heard in my home - by far in 35 years. Now, Q-Sub 15's would only enhance an already terrific speaker as we heard at Magico.

There is no doubt, the M3's have a very engaging, musical, Je ne sais quoi.

I'm doing a demo today at 11am. I'll let you know what he says.

Hi Alectiong, yes I had the opportunity to audition the M3's on the weekend paired with a Dartzeel CTH-8550 fed by a CH C1 dac & Digibit Aria Piccolo server. The speakers were just in a temporary setup running in & still on their castors, so I didn't expect too much. But I have to say I was impressed all things considered. I'll be curious to see how much the M3's improve once they're run in & on their spikes .

I don’t understand why dealers will show speakers like that?
If they can’t give you the experience you need to shade $75K on a pair of loudspeakers, what are they there for?

I am guessing that most dealers cannot spike or place something like the M3 in a fixed position unless it is for a special demo evening. One of my local dealers has about 6 rooms set up with speakers. Even then he has to be agile enough to move XLF's, Alexx's, Aida's, 800D3's, and occasionally Lilium's or Strad's into the "prime" location for a individual to audition. Some speakers do not like to be moves around on spikes or MPOD's.

I do think that at this price point, dealers should have the speakers properly set up for an optimal audition, unless he expects the speakers to sell by themselves. I guess most prospective M3 buyers are Magico owners already.

As my post tried to state, yes he could set them optimally if that was the only pair of high end speakers he is trying to sell.

    Re: Magico M3's Have Arrived!

I got the impression from what Melbuy stated in his post that he understood that the M3's had just come in and were in the break-in process before being set up in another location. Not uncommon if the dealer wanted to run them in 24/7 with SS before setting them up with something else that he wouldn't want to leave running for days on end like a high dollar tube amp. He had the option of waiting until that process was complete before going in, but if he just wanted to see if the Magico's M3's sound profile suited him enough to consider an upgrade before he moved on then he accomplished that and can go back once they are in their fixed location to determine if he wants to purchase or trade up.

Well since yours can only be a couple of months old that is completely understandable and also that you just wanted to hear the new kid on the block.

I'm wrapped with my S5 Mk2's & plan to keep them a long time, though it's always good have a reference point from which to measure where you're at.

Curious to hear your thoughts as to how the VAC compares to your other amplification. My M3's are at the dealer's store, and I can't accept delivery until our renovation work is finished, which is going to be at least another 2-3 weeks! It's killing me! (I'm also hoping not to have to start shopping amplifiers!)

    Re: Magico M3's Have Arrived!

Wow! Heard the M3's over at Mike's' today! Truly Magico! Stevie Ray Vaughn was there too!
Could have sworn it! The bass and wall of sound they project is amazing! The hairs on my arm stood at attention!
I was expecting some big honkers of a speaker but no! Very good wife acceptance factor.
Well my wife drew the line years ago at my big enough to be buried in, his and her Infinity QLS-1 speakers that are long gone.
I have a bad case of speaker envy, but condo living does impose some limits, and luckily for me, with Magico size does not matter so much as my little S1 Mark2 in my small listening room/office sound very close in quality although maybe not quantity. At least that's what I'm telling myself! Lol
Congrats Mike and thanks for the demo!

Unbelievable. The bass is getting better and better. The M3's are my favorite cone & dome speaker I've ever owned. Period.

The M3's Look so damn good. Can't believe I have yet to hear them.

Hmmm, do I makes some room by selling something off and replacing them with M3's or do i just go to Mikes Home or RMAF???

Best case scenario - All Three

At least I have MPods coming for my S7's, that should be fun.

As the M3's approach 100 hours, they only continue to improve. Bass is beginning to open up even more. Midrange and tweeter remain jaw dropping good. The overall speaker remains so incredibly engaging, musical, natural and organic.

    A phenomenal speaker.

Hi Tony - yes, at about 400 hours I "pulled the pins" on the MPOD's once and for all. I wanted to break in the speakers thoroughly first and get used to the sound "with pins" before pulling the pins once and for all. I had tried it a few times back and forth when I first got them, but really wanted to get used to the sound with the pins first so I could unequivocally say, yes the MPOD's make a big difference. With the pins in, the MPOD's work similarly to spikes. But when you pull the pins, the difference is not subtle at all. The biggest improvement being in the bass and midrange. So much more clarity and definition.

With the drivers loosening up, I have put the VAC amps on the M3's again. I will admit, when the drivers were new and quite stiff, the tube amps struggled to control them. But now that the drivers are loosened up, no issues.

I have found the M3's sensitive to source. Put a cheapie source on them (I tried my Oppo 95) and you know it right away. Give them a good source (Berk REF2, Chord DAVE, PS Audio DS, Lampizator, etc.) and WOW - they reward you in spades.

I haven't played around with cables because frankly, I'm a Siltech fan.

My favorite pairing is Vitus, but I'm chomping at the bit to try a pair of Soulution 511 monos.

Mike, do you think Lumin S1 is an adequate source for the M3 on its own? And since you find them so sensitive to the source, what about the speakers cables?

    Thank You!

I think it's a great source for the S1's because it's so balanced itself.

I haven't tried any other speaker cables because I'm a huge Siltech fan, but I do plan to try some AQ and Kimbers at a later date. So, to answer your question, I don't know.

Magico is currently using TaraLabs, but I'm really enjoying the Siltech. I think I would examine cables once everything else is in place and you figure out what final seasoning you need to do.

So... great for the S1, but not so great for the M3? That was my question. If you think Lumin S1 does not show the full M3 magic, what would be the one box source that you think should be a perfect match?

Oops...sorry, that was a typo. The S1 is great for the M3's is what I meant.

I'd like to see Magico one day offer the MPods for the S5 Mk2 & future S3 Mk2. I'm sure enough owners would order them if Magico promoted the option. Magico tell me the current MPods can be connected to the S5 Mk2, but were not designed with the S5 Mk2 in mind.

Here is a most interesting commentary on the M3's and MPods by Alon Wolf on debut at Imacustica, Lisbon, Portugal!

I have them on my MPro's. Like Mike said - they make a huge difference. I thought the bass was tight before, but now... wow, startling.

I noticed from picture that the M3 is actually shorter than the S3.

How does the M3 do with loud volumes, large complex dynamics of electronica and rock n roll?

I ask due to the smallish size and that Bluefox has blown his S5's a couple of times and he said he was not playing that loud.

I heard the M3s at RMAF 2016 playing very loud with very dynamic music in a large room and they sounded great. Isn't Bluefox the guy who normally blows up his stereo on Friday nights after he gets liquored up?
