Who's getting the new iPhone 7?
I'm thinking about it. I'm still on the original iPhone 5.
Anyone else considering the 7?

I dropped my wife's iPhone while we were in Europe. Her new 7 arrives tomorrow. The 7's are too big for me, I'm sticking with the 5se.

Re: Who's getting the new iPhone 7?
I was all set on replacing my Blackberry (oldschool 9780) with a Samsung Note 7. I like the pen and cordless charging, but after this Battery situation, I'm now thinking iPhone 7.

Apple has had its fair share of exploding batteries, too. Just sayin'....
Just wait until one or more of Tesla's lithium batteries explodes. That will be a sight to see.Dan

Re: Who's getting the new iPhone 7?
mauidan.......I also own an iPad with no issues whatsoever and love it. Glad to hear you're happy with your Apple devices. That still doesn't mean Apple hasn't had plenty of exploding battery issues, some causing fires, some causing personal injuries. An occasional issue with certain lithium batteries and charging systems, irrespective of the phone manufacturer, seem more common than manufacturers like to admit. They do all that is possible to squelch the chatter and control the fallout. What matters most is how a manufacturer solves such issues to make the batteries and charging systems safe for consumers and making the affected customers happy and whole again with the results.
It is a shame the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has developed a faulty battery and fast charging issue. I am confident Samsung will get it corrected for all concerned. The stakes are high in the cellphone business. Each company loves to capitalize on another company's problems. It is the nature of the beast. Customer's like to gloat, too. You know, "My phone's better than your phone". As silly as it is, human nature prevails. We all grow old but sometimes I wonder if we ever grow up.Dan

Re: Who's getting the new iPhone 7?
My current Iphone 6 contract expires next month & i'm also debating the Iphone 7 vs Note 7 or Galaxy S7. The recent spate of fried Samsung phones hasn't given me great confidence, but apparently Samsung are doing a recall to fix the batteries, so i'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Samsung are also one of the only companies which offer a software program to seamlessly migrate your Iphone data over which is essential. My only reservation is the need to use anti-virus/anti-malware programs on Android platforms..

Re: Who's getting the new iPhone 7?
Melbguy1.......The Samsung battery issue is strictly with the Galaxy S7 Note, no other Samsung phones. From what I have been able to research, there has been less than 25 batteries that have malfunctioned out of the millions of Galaxy S7 Note's sold. There may be more but there is an official recall in the United States which Samsung, to their credit, quickly implemented. The Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge phones have had no issues.
I purchased the new Samsung Galaxy S7 this past March on the AT&T network. I also purchased the Samsung Fast Wireless Charger. The phone and charger have worked perfectly without issue. The Galaxy S7 is the best smart phone I have owned. Fingerprint and password protection are secure. I like the expandable memory. I have a 128GB SD card. It can be encrypted if you wish. The Super AMOLED display is incredibly sharp and easy to read. I don't want to sound like a Samsung commercial but the new Galaxy S7 is a great phone. I keep it protected in a Spigen Neo Hybrid case.

Re: Who's getting the new iPhone 7?
Thanks Dan...I think the S7 is the phone which has finally reached parity with Apple, and arguably overtaken the Iphone 7. It has a very nice look and feel. The case looks classy, and I agree, the screen is super sharp and high res. Most important for me was user-friendliness and the ability to migrate all my Apple data to the Android platform, which thankfully is seamless using their free program. Thanks for the heads up on the model affected with the battery issue; i'm sure Samsung will quickly nip that in the bud. And that wireless charging station looks convenient too. The larger screen is also great for perusing the forum & keeping up to date with high end esoterica .

Re: Who's getting the new iPhone 7?
Duke, IObit have a free program 'Advanced Mobile Care' which like its desktop version Advanced System Care is a good general de-bugging program which keeps system performance fast/stable, however I wouldn't recommend it as a primary AV/Anti-malware program.
From all that i've read, Bit Defender Mobile Security free or paid version is the way to go for a solid AV/AM program & has garnered very good reviews, including PC Mag who generally give objective opinions.

Re: Who's getting the new iPhone 7?
Am I mistaken, or does it seem like there's not a lot of excitement here about the new iPhone 7? I would have thought this thread would be moving right along with new iPhone users by now. Maybe there's just a lot of folks waiting for orders to be filled.
The new iPhone 7 appears to be an excellent upgrade over previous iterations.

Re: Who's getting the new iPhone 7?
got it yesterday. Upgraded from my iPhone 5. No great shakes, though I'm happy to have a faster processing speed. Much more exciting has been my acquisition of Audeze EL-4 Platinum headphones with the lightening cable. It has a dac and headphone amp in the (included) cable. So it pulls some impressive HiFi sound out of iOS devices.

Re: Who's getting the new iPhone 7?
My first iPhone is the new SE and I bought it about 6 months ago. It's even better with the new IOS 10 update. Once the furor of the new 7 settles down, I plan on getting one for my Sprint account. My iPhone SE is on Verizon and after getting used to a few things coming from Android and a few Samsung phones, I plan on going iPhone all the way. Can't wait.

Apparently the battery issue only affected the S7 Note model, not the S7 or S7 Edge. And the former is subject to a recall I believe.

Who's getting the new iPhone 7?
My problem with any iPhone is that without a protective case it's like trying to hold onto a melting ice cube.... slippery. I had a life proof case that was a nice snug fit that eliminated the slippery feel of my 5c however the mic ports were continually getting clogged and most people only said they could hear me if I was using it with my left hand held up to my left ear. Right hand and right ear and location of mouthpiece ports equaled complete garbled mess for some reason.
The life proof case plastic front sheet finally failed and since then I've been using my phone without but I've dropped it damn near every day due to being slippery. I guess when it breaks I'll have to find something new.Avanti Audio

I have a 6S, so no reason to upgrade. Honestly, think I will have this phone for 4-5 years or switch to Android finally.

Re: Who's getting the new iPhone 7?
Just got a 7 Plus, and my previous one was a "Touch Disease" infected 6 Plus. Very impressive so far, mostly with the camera(s). It's also zippier than my old 6 Plus.
I got mine in standard Black, and it's fairly solid. You do need a case, though, as it's still quite slippery.

Re: Who's getting the new iPhone 7?
Alex.......Congratulations on your new iPhone 7 Plus purchase. Hope it proves to be a more reliable performer. The iPhone 6 touch screen issue is a big problem for Apple. They have refused to correct the issue for customers, instead telling them to buy a new iPhone. There is now a Class Action lawsuit against Apple over this problem. Apple does their best to keep technical issues under wraps like they do with all of their issues, software included. They expend a lot of energy and money to keep Apple's reputation from being blemished, sometimes at the expense of their precious customers. It will be interesting to see how the Class Action lawsuit progresses through the court.

Re: Who's getting the new iPhone 7?
Hi Dan,
Yes, this "Touch Disease" situation is really unfortunate, for Apple, and of course, for the users. I'm aware of the Class Action lawsuit, and I've joined it, since the issue seems to be due to a design mistake by Apple.
The fact that I bought an iPhone 7+ in spite of this problem goes to show how I dislike just about every other smartphone out there I honestly wished Microsoft did a better job with their OS, as it was quite a bit better than Android (as an OS). But I guess it never really had a chance, with the headstart both Apple and Google had with manufacturers...
cheers,
alex

Re: Who's getting the new iPhone 7?
My Microsoft phone just updated to Windows 10, and it is fantastic. Yes, like the founder of Apple, Steve Woz..., I have a Windows phone!
"Never one to mince words, Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak has this week expressed his thoughts on Windows Phone, and how it competes against the popular mobile platforms of our day: Android and iOS. In a phone interview with Gina Smith (coauthor of Woz's autobiography) and Dan Patterson, Wozniak is effusive in his praise for the Windows Phone interface, describing it as beautiful and highly intuitive.
He's so impressed by it, in fact, that he defines the experience of using a Windows Phone as feeling like you're "with a friend not a tool." In his mind, navigating Android is a much more cumbersome experience, to the point where he sees "no contest" between that OS and Windows Phone — Microsoft's software is much more to his liking. He even goes on to say that iOS is "more awkward" in its interactions than the Lumia phone he's presently using..."
If you like your phone than that is all that matters. Yes...it makes for a BIG improvement. Every demo I've heard where at Altaira was in the system, folks listened, and then the Altaira(s) were removed, and folks immediately demanded the Altaira be put...
