Re: Making the Technics SL-1200
How does it sound? Does it compare well with other tables in the price range? (e.g. Rega or VPI)

Re: Making the Technics SL-1200
I have the VPI Classic 3 and Technics 1210 MKII.
Can we compare them ?
Perhaps...They don't play in the same category.
I can only compare them with the cartridge Audio-Technica At-OC 9 ML III.
I can say VPI is more spacious, three dimensional sound. The singer or the group is in my room.
With the Technics, it's beautiful but the sound stay in the loudspeaker.
I hope I can help you.Marantz SA7S1/GRIMM AUDIO CC1/MARK LEVINSON 360S+TECHNICS SL1210 MKII/ORTOFON X1-MC/VPI CLASSIC 3 in rosewood/Audio-Technica ART-9/ESOTERIC E03+TAG MC LAREN T32R+JEFF ROWLAND CORUS+JEFF ROWLAND MODEL 625+Magnepan 3.7i+Cables line: all Furutech lineflux+power cord DIY

Re: Making the Technics SL-1200
cool video!
hongkong- this is the new 3k version, not the historical one. Have no doubt your VPI is better than the original.
the new 1200 would be the first TT in that price range I would consider- and the Technics would cost double if made by a traditional hifi manufacturer.Brinkmann Bardo w/ EMT HSD-006 cart, MSB Reference DAC --> Linear Tube Audio MicroZOTL --> Ampzilla 2000, 2nd Edition --> Fyne Audio F1-12

Fremer lists some of the differences here between the new higher priced GAE version and the older DJ-oriented models that was discontinued a few years ago: http://www.analogplanet.com/content/...LGTjbPbmD4Z.97

Re: Making the Technics SL-1200
At RMAF, I spoke with a manufacturer with a client who shedded several 10k turntables for the Technics as he was so blown away. I have a friend who will be trying it out in a few weeks, so hope to report back.

So, when does the limited edition go on sale? Or is it on sale already?
