    Music Culture

Has anyone listen to any of Wolfgang's new line of equipment?

I was telling a friend of mine that I wanted to save up and eventually get a set of the KEF Reference 1's. He had a set of Wolfgang's stand mounted speakers that he loaned to me to play around with for a while. My friend said after you hear these you probably won't want the references any more ; I liked them so much that I just had to keep them!

Yea, they impressed the heck out of me. Quite a bit different than what he designed when he owned MBL. A member of our audio club has a full MBL system, with pre-amp, mono block amps, big boy speakers (I think the 111F's???), etc. Amazing sounding. The MC definitely have the same sound characteristics, but of course at a much lower level ....

Pretty amazing sounding speakers for a medium to small stand mounted speaker. The stands are quite solid; actually the heaviest stands I have ever seen.

    Re: Music Culture

The name of Wolfgang's current company is Music Culture. They are not currently distributed in the US. They are looking for a distributor at this point according to their marketing manager.

Really nice equipment for people who love the idea of MBL but can't afford the extreme pricing. I saw an interview with Wolfgang where he was saying that he loved what he did with MBL but wanted to design a line of equipment with very high level performance that a person with a decent income would be able to save up and afford! I have to say, to my ears the RL21's are definitely that!

    Hi all,
I was associated with the original US distributor of MC. Wolfgang Meletzky has not been associated with Music Culture Technology for a number of years. The company is now owned and led by a gentleman by the name of Jerry Sun who is also Chairman of the Smart Living Group of Hong Kong; if I recall correctly, Jerry was Wolfgang's partner in MC. Jerry has a passion for the MC products and the electronics may still be manufactured in the original German factory. The MC products were indeed designed in conjunction with MBL and to Wolfgang's ear and specs. They represent top notch sonics and extremely high value for reasonable prices. Construction is pretty much on a par with MBL. Really great stuff! Wolfgang's new venture is the Stromtank battery power supply.

    Re: Music Culture

Thanks Tom, great input! I watched a video of Wolfgang talking about the MC at an audio show. I did not know how old the video was but I was quite impressed. I do know that I absolutely love my speakers.

This past weekend I hosted our local audio club meeting. Everyone loved and were very impressed with the MC speakers! One of our club members writes for Stereophile magazine and he brought some of his own music and really analyzed my system. He made some nice suggestions but all in all was very impressed, especially with the tonal qualities of the speakers.

Another member has a full fledged MBL system (Pre-amp, mono amplifiers, Speakers, Disk player I believe). He also brought one of his own SA-CD disks. He was also fairly impressed and mentioned that they definitely have the MBL sound characteristics. Of course not at the same level, but impressive.
