Try contacting James - All Products – Plixir Power

He may be able to customise step up transformers but good ones will not be inexpensive.

Re: Can I change my Meta Data Editor?

I have tried MusicBrainz & various other metadata editing apps.

Best so far, for me, in terms of interface and ease of use is Mp3tag - Mp3tag - the universal Tag Editor (ID3v2, MP4, OGG, FLAC,...

    Re: DAC (Re) Search

I have the DAC502 Mk1 (larger chassis version of the Mk1). You don’t have to use the DSP / preamp functions. It is equally good, if not better, as a straight DAC. I have previously posted on my...

Benediction of Acoustics Grove System — Audio Exotics

    Not inexpensive though.
  6. Active Speakers - will this time be different?

Not all active speakers enable the user to EQ the inputs. Eg, for ATC, it’s straight through.

While not a recent “white paper” and possibly self-serving, coming from an active speaker maker, this...
  7. Re: Active Speakers - will this time be different?

ATC uses Class A/B amps of their own design.
  8. Active Speakers - will this time be different?

Yes, one of the more well-known active speaker manufacturers, especially if one lives in Germany.

From what I can gather, active speakers have gained acceptance in Germany and there are a number...
  9. Active Speakers - will this time be different?

Yes, there’s always the potential drawback - whether the same manufacturer can be equally adept at designing the speaker and electronics (amplifier / active crossover / DSP) aspects of an active...

New Avantgarde G3 series: Uno and Duo

Following the launch of the Trio G3, Avantgarde has now introduced the corresponding G3 versions of the Uno and Duo.

Based on the marketing brochure, the range has been slimmed down:

    - Uno SD...
  13. Re: Active Speakers - will this time be different?

Interview with Jack Oclee-Brown from KEF on the LS60 on the design principles behind it and why it may be a “transition point” for him on active vs passive. Plus, a hint of future active (higher...
  14. Re: Roy Gregory Reviews the Avantgarde Trio G3’s

The review appeared a while back. It’s an interesting read but does take a while to digest. This is also another data point on the effectiveness and potential of active speakers, at a price (which...
  15. Active Speakers - will this time be different?

Hopefully, the potential of active speakers will finally be realised.

When done right, based on my ears, active speakers can and do sound more coherent, direct (transparent & less veiled?) and...

    Re: Lumin X1 Review

I second the use of the Melco NAS/server.

When I had the Lumin A1, swapping the Synology NAS for the Melco N1A made a difference - the Melco N1A was clearly quieter.

    8 DAC’s in 16 minutes

Having read Steve Huff’s written (review The Weiss DAC501 Review. Pristine Studio Sound. |), it’s somewhat OTT but not inaccurate. It is also useful that he managed to compare the Weiss with the...

    Re: 8 DAC’s in 16 minutes

Yes, I have. The usual YMMV applies.

I have been intrigued by the Aqua Formula xHD and the very positive reviews that it had when compared to my Weiss DAC502. More positive reviews of the DAC502...

Congratulations! They look good in your room (with matching wall paint too :))

Given that the Stradivaris were regarded as one of the best SF speakers, the DB-11s must be something else.

    Re: 8 DAC’s in 16 minutes

The Weiss is underrated - I was actually hoping to end up with the Chord DAVE or Aqua Formula xHD rev2. But nothing beats listening and comparing in your own / familiar system.

    DAC501 / DAC502 Mk2...

KEF Blades and References with Meta Tech

KEF Blade Meta White Paper shares quite a bit about the many (incremental) changes made. Engineering refinements of a basically sound concept. I like the fact that the changes are measurable.

    Re: Gryphon built in DAC's

A bit of topic. Joel Chevassus (from the French Audiophile-Magazine) owns the Tambaqui and favourably reviewed the Weiss DAC501 (same internally as DAC502).

He seems to suggest that he would have...
