Re: Esoteric News - Merger with Teac

I use a little Teac integrated for my TV system.
  2. Re: What Solid State Drives (SSD) are Audiosharks using in their digital network transports?

Samsung 870 EVO in my Antipodes EX. Before that, a Samsung external SSD with a Bryston BDP-2. No problems experienced with either.

Re: So what happened to Vinnie Rossi LIO?

I've wondered this too. Thought the modular design / upgradability was a good idea.
A while back, briefly considered a used LIO, to maybe add upgrades, but then noticed it wasn't for sale new...

Re: New compact all-in-one system for the studio

Thanks again; glad you found them engaging. I need to do an update and add some recent work.

As for the Vivids, yes the shape is certainly part of the appeal, and it will be unsurprising that I...

Re: New compact all-in-one system for the studio

Thanks... Did read about a few others; not too many seem to have CD players. I guess Technics is having some kind of licensing issue with vTuner. Would be nice if that was made obvious before...

Re: New compact all-in-one system for the studio

Brad - Thanks for taking a look.

I remember tornado warnings, and huddling in the basement, when I was very young and my family lived in Michigan. But I haven't seen a real tornado in person. ...

And a better view of one of the paintings on the wall.

Many of these can be seen at my site Benjamin Long

Here's a shot of one corner of the studio. The Technics Ottava can be seen on the white locker cabinets on left:

New compact all-in-one system for the studio

There’s no practical way to have a two speaker setup in my painting studio that would make sense. Plus, I move around while working, so a true stereo situation is impossible. Mostly I just want to...
  14. Re: Loudspeakercables (12x) Blindtest, measurements, music samples

The english translation of the whole experiment is here:

Megatest speaker cables - real measurements, samples and blind test! - Alpha Audio NET

I thought it was pretty interesting.

Re: Active Speakers - will this time be different?

^ Another glowing Genelec review, with measurements to back it up.

I actually have the G One, the smallest model, as my desktop computer speakers.

Re: Active Speakers - will this time be different?

The idea of active / powered speakers is appealing; the simplifying of things (fewer boxes, cables), and the potential of a perfectly matched speaker and amp. Have been reading up on them casually...

Re: It's Time For A New Preamplifier

I have the Coda 07x, and it does have two sets of balanced out. Got mine used for well under the OP's budget, although they don't seem to become available that often.

Would be interesting to compare it to my GaN amp... both are recent class D developments.

    Re: Peachtree GaN400 incoming

The amp has nearly two weeks of run time, so I consider it broken in. It's been fed a continuous stream of music except for a brief moment around the 24 hour mark, when I swapped out the stock PC...

^ Yes, just saw reference to this today, after posting. Wasn't familiar with the company before. Probably the most affordable way to try GaN.

    Re: Peachtree GaN400 incoming

I haven't tried Coda power amps although I have their pre. The pairing would be really good, I'd imagine.

Compared to many here, I've had limited experience with amp variety, but I would say the...

    Re: Peachtree GaN400 incoming

Thanks. Don't know who makes the modules... Peachtree doesn't specify as far as I know. But it's more about implementation I suppose, and the GaN400 amp was supposedly in development for over a...

    Peachtree GaN400 incoming

Have been reading about amps using GaNFETs with interest; more audio makers seem to be diving in, and the reviews have been very good. AGD's model are appealing to me specs-and-looks-wise, but the...

    Re: Sound volume level

Another one here. I listen on shuffle and have to adjust the volume often; there are sometimes huge differences from one song to the next. That's why a remote is essential for me.

    It's also why...
