    Re: Vitus SOTA Machines

I don't understand why they have to take down their old website while their new website is being prepared. Surely it would be better to prepare the new website and launch it immediately. That way,...
  2. Re: How will the audio industry change in the near future?

How lamentable, no decent toast for 15 years :) You should buy one of these: Magimix toaster. Made in France, I believe.

I agree with Mike about your incoming administration. Who knows what...

Re: Subjectivity and objectivity in audio

Most objectivists are full of bunk. They don't even understand what it is they are measuring, yet they go on and on about measurements telling you everything. They don't. Measurements only measure...

Re: The future of Elrog Tubes

If that is the case, then my understanding of the situation is incorrect. I should withdraw my remarks and apologize.

Re: The future of Elrog Tubes

I don't think you can blame them for leaving all "their" previous customers without warranty. It is, after all, a new trading entity and not the same company as the old Elrog. Those customers who...

Re: Suggestions for a good CD transport?

Were you aware that until a few years ago, there were only a handful of companies making high end SACD/CD transports? Sony, Esoteric, and another company whose name I forget. All high end transports...

Re: Aurender W20 vs my hot-rodded PC server

Thank you, Adam. I currently have my PC powered with an Uptone JS-2. It made a huge improvement compared to the Streacom SMPS. Would you say that the Teradak is superior to the Uptone?

    Is yours...

Re: Aurender W20 vs my hot-rodded PC server

Adam, I count four PSU's powering your computer. Well, I know that the LPS-1 is powering your JCAT card because you said so. But what are all the other PSU's for? Would you be able to post a picture...

Re: The best sounding tweeters in the world

Melbguy1 you would be welcome to pop by any time this week or weekend if you are free. I would love to hear your Magico's as well, considering that the only Magico I have ever heard was the Mini.

Re: The best sounding tweeters in the world

Thanks to the magic of DSP and several drivers and amplifier upgrades, the discontinuity is now gone :)

Re: The best sounding tweeters in the world

Don't worry, the amount of ozone produced is negligible. You can barely smell it even with your nose right up to the tweeter.

Periodic replacement of the ELECTRODE only, not the whole tweeter...

Re: The best sounding tweeters in the world

Not really. I suppose I could experiment with mine - take a frequency sweep, then humidify the room and take another sweep.

Re: The best sounding tweeters in the world

Well, I am biased. I own an Acapella Ion TW-1S, so I have to say Acapella :) But honestly, I think the Lansche is better.

I have also heard those MBL's. The most relaxing sound I have ever heard,...

Re: Any love for Stax here?

Some time ago, I managed to hear a Stax SR-009 around the same time everyone was gushing over the Sennheiser HD-800's. I remember thinking to myself, what was the fuss over the Sennheiser's - to me,...
  15. Re: What was your first "audiophile" system...the one that got you hooked?

    In university:

That was my first system with separates, at...

Re: You might be an audiophile if you.....

You might be an audiophile if you have ever had this conversation:

    "Have you met Andrew?"

    "Who is Andrew?"

"The guy with the Krell amps and the Wilson Sasha speakers"

    "YEAH I KNOW HIM!!!"

Re: Roon users - Can we have your opinion?

What music do you listen to, Joe? How large is your music collection? Have you meticulously edited all your metadata?

    Classical
    Very large
    No

    ... then Roon is a...

  22. Re: External Clock or No External Clock, that is the question

The short answer is: try it and see.

The long answer, well here goes.

In general, clocks should be physically located as close to the DAC as possible. If you look at the PCB's of most DAC...

Re: iPhone 7 - early impressions?

Sad what's happened to Apple. Once upon a time, they created new product categories and new markets. With the iPhone 7, they are reduced to removing the headphone jack and calling it a day.

Re: The best money I ever spent in audio is....

As audiophiles WE should know how to set up our systems without having to pay a professional to do it. The equipment you need (mic + soundcard + cables) only costs $300-400, the software is free, and...
