    Raidho D x.1 announced

All - It is with great excitement we can share with you the introduction of the new Raidho Diamond .1 series being showcased at CES 2016 by the Raidho Team. Michael and Lars have been working very diligently, based partially on knowledge gained from the cutting-edge flow-system introduced in the X3 and XT-3, an updated Diamond series. They are introducing the .1 series formally next week and you will find an all new motor structure for the drivers (less the 8” found in the D5), upgraded crossover, and a radically improved and different flow system which allows the new version of the speaker to play more efficiently, with better power handling, increased dynamic headroom, lower noise floor and most importantly - more music!

The pricing on the new models, after being carefully adjusted for the strong US dollar, are as follows:

    D1.1 - Black - $23k
    D1.1 - Walnut Burl - $25.5k
    D2.1 - Black - $44k
    D2.1 - Walnut Burl - $48.5k
    D3.1 - Black - $65.5k
    D3.1 - Walnut Burl - $72.5k
    D5.1 - Black - $225k
    D5.1 - Walnut Burl - $250k

There will be an upgrade program from existing D owners as well. All D1s, D2s, and D3s need to be sent back to the Raidho factory for the upgrade while D5s must be upgraded in the client’s home or our shop.

Class A! Wow! I guess all those people that previously squawked that Class A amps and Raidho speakers didn't mix will be scratching their heads.

    Raidho D x.1 announced

    Re: D3's....third times the charm?

I spoke with a designer of one of the top 5 speaker manufacturers and he said the Raidho's pop because the ports aren't big enough. I wonder if the .1 finds a way around this? I love the Raidho sound, owned three pairs, but the bass hump and popping drove me bonkers. For me, they were so close....but yet, so far.

    Hi Mike,

This aspect of the Raidhos is really not an issue for me. With the improvements made with D3 Version 2 and the subsequent bass modification, coupled with the gear I chose and the volumes levels I listen, excessive mid-bass is not really an issue. But for those that play at high volume levels, these changes should be very beneficial. I am curious about the sonic benefits of the new motor structure and upgraded crossover but that does not necessarily mean that I will do the upgrade.

    Best,
    Ken

Ken - I agree. With what you've described as your typical listening habits (below 85db), they are MARVELOUS!

Yeah, with some great advice from you, Mark and Paul, thankfully I've been able to sidestep a lot of these issues.

Here are some comments from Lars on the Raidho Facebook page:

What are the sonic improvements with the D-3.1?

Raidho Acoustics Just more of the familiar qualities from the D-series, just even quieter, darker, more dramatic, with greater dynamics and capable of substantial higher dB's

I'm not sure how much I would benefit from these changes at the volume levels I listen, but hey, you never know. Please give me a full report after you hear them.

    Best,
    Ken
