    Re: Raidho D x.1 announced

Just guessing but the D5's are front ported so there may be additional internal baffles for air flow and the cabinet is 5" deeper. Also the D5's have 4 6.2" drivers (vs 3 4.3" drivers) so the motor structure could be a lot heavier. I haven't moved D3's but I have helped moved D5's. Those D5's are real heavy especially up a flight of stairs.

As far as the D4.1's although rear ported like the air flow is completely different so there may be less baffles for air flow. Again another guess.

    Thanks George.

How far are the back of the D 5s from the wall? I know my mileage may vary but I'm wondering how much room those monsters require.

    Hi George,

I would say that's a pretty educated guess! I think you're right on target.

    Best,

I'm pretty sure Le Roy has moved them from the last time time I was there (but hope to be back real soon with my power cord - the D TC that is). Personally I don't think they have to be too far off the back wall to sound great.

The D5's are approximately 30% of the way into my dedicated listening room as measured to the front of the tweeter. They did not start out this way but they have been parked in their current location since last year.

Every room is different and your YMMV.

    Le Roy,

The rule of thirds is a good rule.

That's true Ken. Lot of truth in those rules of thumb. When I started my adventure with these speakers they were probably 20-25% into the room. Even though they are front ported, they like "elbow room".
