What is going on with Qobuz?

last time more and more albums and songs disappeared from Qobuz. Now this morning in a live album, on of the best songs is gone from the library and it was skipped. Think I will cancel my subscription and move to Tidal.

Re: What is going on with Qobuz?

It happens in Tidal as well.

    From Qobuz

" The album you are talking about was available and for several possible reasons it was removed from the supplier's catalog.

    The reasons can be different:
    - This product is no longer available from this supplier (change of label, etc...)
    - The supplier, the artist : the rights holders have decided not to give us the rights anymore
    Etc... "

That's why I enjoy having my CD's and LP's on hand. An artist or product supplier can remove their music from a streaming service anytime., after all they own the rights to the music, not Tidal or Qobuz.

    There are 3 music rights:

Master rights are typically owned by the artist or record labels such as Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony Music, Believe etc.

    Publishing rights
The publishing rights are the rights to the song itself, including the melody, lyrics, and arrangement. Publishing rights are typically owned by the songwriter or composer.

    Performance rights
The performance rights are the rights to perform a song publicly. This license is required when your streaming service offers a live stream or when users can listen to music on demand.

And in some of these agreements , The music can only be streamed for a certain period of time ( as noted in the term of agreement)

I found Tidal to be MUCH worse in this regard.

This happens with all streaming services. Really.

For really important albums that you cannot live without, seriously consider purchasing them. Check out Sublime subscription for purchase discounts. Some people (who purchased a lot) reported that the savings paid for the subscription itself.

Second album, from Roxette's tourism album the track It must have been love is recorded in 2 parts, a slow intro, and next the normal speed up one, that last part is gone too.

And this is what lately happened, more and more greyed out songs in albums. But sadly if I read the suggestions another streaming service won't help.

Think I will follow Peter Lie's advise and take a sublime subscription, i Another idea: I also can buy the original cd rip it via exact audio copy and stream it via Roon arc.

Re: What is going on with Qobuz?

I don't use Qobuz as a primary source for listening but rather to investigate new music and/or casual listening; the main benefit for me is what Peter suggested, and the Sublime discount on purchases results in no cost for the streaming service if you buy ~5 albums per month (that is only ~60 per year, and less than the cost of a typical audiophile cable).

If an album is only available in 16/44.1, then physical CD might be the better option at the same price level. However, if the album is available in Hi-Res, I assume most audiophiles will prefer the Hi-Res.

For the disappeared albums, check on Qobuz web store whether they can still be purchased (even if no longer licensed for streaming).

One more reason to buy physical or digital copies. Rip the CD/SACD, and save downloaded files to a NAS. I go one step further and back my NAS up to the cloud, insuring I won't lose any of it.

That's exactly what I do. I use Qobuz as as way to discover new music. When I find an album i really like, I buy the CD, rip it and put the ripped files onto the drive for the music server

Here's one I found on Qobuz that's of my faves. Wonderful pianist.

I agree. I was with Tidal and got tired of the poor music recommendations and daily disappearing music.

I was really surprised at the improved SQ when I did the trial of Q before dumping Tidal.
