    Price increase report thread

I just heard it through the grapevine that Magico has increased its prices across the board. For instance, the Magico M2 MSRP went up $8k from $68,500 to $76,500 USD. Costs of all sorts are rising, and smaller enterprises cannot afford to lose their profit margins to rising costs.

The current inflation trend is very real and is ongoing. Specialty items like high-end audio components will be front of line for rising prices. Please post your examples of price increases as you discover them. Also of interest to everyone are opportunities to buy before the increases take place. PLEASE POST WHAT YOU KNOW. Details of pricing changes are especially valuable.

Price increase report thread , might as well add everything we utilize in and around the home and everything outside of your home. Nothing is immune to the increase in prices worldwide as we see today.

So if anyone see's a good deal, take it if you are in the market for anything really.

Already done, I was browsing an audio site the other day and noticed Bryston prices increased, I saw the 4B current version went up about $1k.

Randy, mentioned a Mac increase hat just hit.

Like CPP mentioned, we may be better off mentioning a company that hasn't raised prices yet, LOL

Yea, several pieces of McIntosh have increased. The C49 and MC152 both went from $5000 to $5500 for example. I can't tell you the exact amount on others, but I was lucky. I got my order in on a C49 literally a few minutes before the increase hit their system!

Will the continued price increases push high-end audio further into niche market?

The entry point for new people into the hobby is also increasing as a result.

    Yes, I'm aware.

But, the smaller, more expensive and boutique brands made in the USA, Europe etc..

Can't absorb the cost increases as much as an Apple or Sony can.

most of the brands i am familiar with are doing Q1 price increases it seems around the 7-15% range. some more.

my guess is half is supply side and labor expense, half is a strong consumer market driving demand for luxury goods and recreation related products.....and the buying power of a dollar has diminished.

OTOH used resale values for the "right" gear is also strong.

I know, I had two McIntosh pieces sell in less than a day, at a higher price than they would have a month or two ago.

    Re: Price increase report thread

Yes, Peobody, with broad inflation occurring, the opportunity may be for us to identify "last chance" opportunities to buy before the price bump. (Thanks, Mike, for alerting people to VAC). These are real opportunities today, as opposed to just marketing promotions. Since dealers can usually buy and replace any stock they might have at old prices before the increase, they may be willing to apply standard and customary discounts. I, for one, believe that prices on specialty and luxury items are bound to increase another 20% in the year ahead. So I am shopping for upgrades now.

You don't want to drive too far to upgrade your hi-fi loudspeakers and stereo sound system ...
Plus, the electricity is going up too. Best to have solar powered stereo sound systems and EV.

I also read that DCS is raising prices.

Regarding gasoline, just bought gas today - $3.79 for 93 Octane at Costco in Sarasota, FL.

Since this thread has already been derailed:

"Amazon's shares jumped after company reported better-than-expected profits late on Thursday and said it was hiking the price of its annual U.S. Prime subscriptions by 17%."

Glad I am a shareholder but not a Prime subscriber. I wonder how much the raise in the rate will be offset by losing subscribers due to the increase.
