Huh?
Hmmmm.....OK - so I just had the owner of a speaker company who on their web site says their speakers are "cool" try and lecture me that audio racks and fighting vibrations in high-end audio are not important.

Re: Huh?
They challenged me when I said maple would racks have their own sound vs higher end vibration racks (you can hear this with your own ears and high end rack manufacturers also talk about this issue), they said vibration footers don't make a difference, and rather than adding vibration footers or platforms to deal with vibrations that people should just automatically know what is the best rack and buy it first and foremost and then won't ever need to supposedly deal with vibration issues.

It's interesting watching who gets all wound up over my post. It's always the same few people on this forum that feed off spreading negativity. Entertaining to sit back and watch for sure."We are all billionaires because of the huge piles sweet dough rolling in from our participation in the ongoing campaign to suck your collective brains through a stirrer-straw." - PTA Editorial Staff

Re: Huh?
so then why are you afraid to spill the beans on what 'speaker company' is in question ? I don't see how those of us that asked could be misconstrued as being negative ??
Cheers ! …. Dave

Re: Huh?
You started this clickbait thread with the following:
You are the one that tried to make the speaker manufacturer appear stupid and then you accuse other people of being emotionally wrapped up in your nonsense that you started.
The real truth is there are people on this thread that had their doubts about the veracity of your claims and your responses didn't alleviate those doubts.Micro Seiki SX-8000 air bearing table, SME 312s arm, SME 3012R arn, Dynavector XV-1s cartridge, Lyra Etna SL cartridge, ARC Ref 3 phono stage, Otari MX-55 2 track R2R, Ampex 350 tape repros, Roon Nucleus Plus music server, HiFi Rose 150B DAC, ARC Ref 6, ARC Ref 75 with KT-150s, Parasound JC5 amp , JBL 4345 speakers, Viero Equilibro Level 3 speaker cables, and Definitive Technology Ref subs.

Re: Huh?
FWIW Dept.: Bob Worzella, the founder of Sound Anchors, using a lazer and mirrors placed on speaker cabinets, was able to show that the speakers vibrated less when mounted on his speaker stands.
I've no doubt some stands are better than others. So in addition to what speaker brand, what speaker stand brand too? Otherwise a red herring and nothing to see here.

Re: Huh?
We've done measurements of audio racks and platforms. They can have a very measurable effect on a system (reducing vibration by 10dB easily) if properly built and properly used. The measurement is correlated by listening as well.
Regarding footers: my LP mastering lathe was mounted on a custom table that employed an anti-vibration platform, isomerically mounted on the table. The table had welded legs of 4" diameter steel, with adjustable points on the bottom. The lathe was built about 1949, after the invention of the LP but long before stereo, although I had a Westerex 3D cutter head mounted to it. Its pretty obvious that none of the ideas for equipment stands or footers are new or started by audiophiles, at least judging by that table.
IMO/IME we can put this thing to bed...
